Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO), Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has commemorated the legacy of the late President John Evans Atta Mills with a Memorial Library and Family House in his hometown of Ekumfi-Otuam, in the Central Region.
The nearly completed project, overseen by Koku Anyidoho, CEO of the Atta Mills Institute and a close aide to the late president, is located adjacent to the Odumnaa Family house in Otuam.
On November 21, 2024, NAPO, accompanied by Central Regional Minister Justina MaryGold Assan and NPP parliamentary candidate Stelfa Nana Adu Donkor Okumkom, conducted a final inspection ahead of the project’s commissioning.
Nana Eniffua III, Queen Mother of the Odumnaa Family, praised NAPO’s efforts, expressing gratitude for honoring their son. However, Abusua Panyin Kwabena Biney voiced disappointment over the lack of tribute from other prominent figures, including NDC leaders.
Koku Anyidoho applauded NAPO’s gesture and criticized the NDC and former President John Mahama for failing to honor Mills’ legacy, highlighting the party’s neglect even of projects like the Cape Coast Atta Mills Memorial Library.
NAPO reiterated his commitment to preserving President Mills’ legacy, emphasizing that honoring national heroes is a shared responsibility. He urged Ghanaians to study the life and contributions of the late president to inspire future generations.
