The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has dissolved the Management Committee of the Senior National Team, the Black Stars, following their disappointing failure to qualify for the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Black Stars ended their Group F AFCON qualification campaign at the bottom, securing only three points, marking the nation’s first absence from the continental tournament in 21 years.
In a press release on Thursday, November 21, 2024, the GFA issued a heartfelt apology to Ghanaians, acknowledging the national frustration.
“We understand the disappointment and share in the pain of our beloved fans. The team’s performance fell short of expectations, and for that, we are truly sorry,” the statement read.
The Executive Council also announced plans for a stakeholder retreat on November 28, 2024, at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence.
The meeting will bring together football experts, former players, opinion leaders, and sports professionals to craft a roadmap for revitalizing the Black Stars and Ghanaian football.
Additionally, Head Coach Otto Addo is scheduled to present his technical report to the GFA on November 27, 2024, as the association evaluates the team’s performance and considers future reforms.
This move signals a critical moment for Ghanaian football as the nation seeks to rebuild its legacy on the continental stage.
