Ghanaian musician Okyeame Kwame has revealed that he was approached to be the running mate for John Alan Kyerematen, the presidential candidate for the Movement for Change.

In an interview, he shared that while he met the criteria Kyerematen was seeking, he ultimately decided to decline the offer.

Okyeame recounted his meeting with Kyerematen, where the candidate outlined ten qualities he was looking for in a vice-presidential running mate. “It was quite flattering,” he admitted.

The qualities included being educated, experienced in development work, having a strong social media presence, and being married, among others.

When asked about his decision to turn down the invitation, Okyeame explained that he felt unprepared for the demands of partisan politics, particularly given that his children are teenagers—his son is 15 and his daughter is 13. “If I were to enter politics, I would need to prepare them for that change. I also considered the implications of public scrutiny, including potential attacks on my character,” he said.
