Former Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen, has spoken out against a viral video that misrepresents his comments about the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The video suggests that Lawyer Obiri Boahen praised the NDC for caring more for its people than the NPP, and criticized the ruling party for being weakened by greed and selfishness.

In a statement copied to lawsonmultimedia.com, Lawyer Obiri Boahen clarified that his remarks have been taken out of context and emphasized that the issue discussed was part of a broader conversation that should not be viewed in isolation.

He also reaffirmed his support for NPP Flagbearer, Dr. Bawumia, and dismissed the video as a deliberate attempt by political actors to mislead the public.

He urged Ghanaians to treat the video with contempt and ignore these tactics, which he described as desperate and unrefined.

Lawyer Obiri Boahen called for unity and focus on securing victory for Dr. Bawumia and the NPP in the upcoming elections.

”Desperate politicians and low-witted political actors will always go all out to be mischievous just to score political points. Let us all disregard these crude and unrefined methods and look ahead with the view of achieving victory for my brother Dr. Bawumiah and the New Patriotic Party. I rest my case,” part of the statement said.

My attention has been drawn to flyers being circulated in a vague and distorted form by our NDC friends. First, permit me to state that the statement going around was taken out of context. Secondly, and more importantly, the issue which was under reference or discussion was a general issue that cannot be appreciated in isolation without considering the entire topic under discussion. How can I undermine Dr. Bawumiah’s campaign when I started the whole exercise? Ghanaians must treat with contempt the unorthodox attempts to poison the minds of level-headed Ghanaians and the teeming supporters of the NPP. Desperate politicians and low-witted political actors will always go all out to be mischievous just to score political points. Let us all disregard these crude and unrefined methods and look ahead with the view of achieving victory for my brother Dr. Bawumiah and the New Patriotic Party. I rest my case.
