Ruud van Nistelrooy has departed Manchester United after not being included in the backroom staff of new manager Ruben Amorim.

The 48-year-old Dutchman stepped in as interim manager following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag and had a brief stint at Old Trafford.

He joined the club as an assistant coach in July on a two-year contract and achieved three victories and one draw in his four matches as caretaker boss.

Despite his contributions, Amorim has opted not to retain Van Nistelrooy, who is remembered fondly for his five seasons as a player at United.

“Ruud is, and always will be, a Manchester United legend,” the club stated in a release confirming his departure. “We are grateful for his contributions and the dedication he showed in his role.

He will always be welcome at Old Trafford.”

In addition to Van Nistelrooy, other coaches, including Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar, and Pieter Morel, have also left the club.

However, former United midfielder Darren Fletcher will continue in his coaching position, maintaining a connection between the first team and the academy.

Manchester United announced that they would provide details on the complete first-team coaching staff under Amorim “in due course.”
