Akufo-Addo Increases Cocoa Producer Price to GH₵3,100 to Support Farmers

President announces slight increase as National Best Farmer Award recognizes top agricultural contributions

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced a slight increase in the producer price of cocoa for the 2024/2025 crop season, raising it from GH₵3,000 to GH₵3,100 per 64kg bag.

This 0.03% rise is aimed at reflecting current market conditions and supporting cocoa farmers.

Speaking at the National Farmers’ Day awards on November 8 in Accra, the president shared that the price adjustment follows recommendations from the producer price review committee. He emphasized that his directive to the Minister ensures periodic reviews to assist farmers during challenging times.

In other news, Nana Owusu Achiaw Brempong, a 70-year-old farmer from the Ashanti Region, was crowned National Best Farmer. With 50 years of farming experience, Nana Owusu oversees 168 workers cultivating crops such as cocoa and cashew at North American Farms. His reward included one million Ghana cedis. In his speech, he urged greater focus on food security.

The National Farmers’ Day event, celebrated across the country, recognized farmers for their hard work and significant contribution to the economy.
