John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has declared that his party will fiercely oppose any attempts to manipulate the upcoming elections through ballot printing discrepancies.
Mahama accuses the Electoral Commission (EC) of printing surplus ballots during the 2020 elections, which he claims were given to agents of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Although the EC is currently printing ballots for the upcoming polls and denies any wrongdoing, Mahama remains skeptical about the integrity of the electoral process.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Sagnarigu, he emphasized the need for vigilance among party agents and observers, stating, “This election must be transparent and fair. We have relied on the neutrality of all electoral stakeholders in the past, but that trust has been broken. In 2020, after supervising the ballot printing, we witnessed extra ballots being distributed to the NPP.”
Mahama recounted instances of NPP agents caught with unauthorized ballots on election day, highlighting a lack of accountability from law enforcement.
He urged his supporters to remain alert, asserting, “We will not allow any extra ballots to be misused this time. We are determined to ensure a fair election.”
