Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, President of the National House of Chiefs, is calling on chiefs across Ghana to prioritize peace as the nation gears up for the December 7 elections.
He stressed the importance of maintaining the dignity and integrity of the chieftaincy by acting responsibly during this critical time.
With just 36 days remaining until Ghanaians cast their votes for presidential and parliamentary candidates, the push for a peaceful electoral process is becoming increasingly urgent among key stakeholders.
In his closing address at a meeting in Kumasi on November 1, Ogyeahoho Gyebi II highlighted the vital role of chiefs as ambassadors of peace. He urged them to work together to ensure a calm and orderly election atmosphere.
“As we approach the elections, let’s amplify our efforts for fair, peaceful, and transparent voting,” he said.
He also reminded chiefs to uphold the respect associated with their institution, stating, “Despite the challenges, it’s clear that the perception of chieftaincy is improving, and our public visibility is on the rise.”
Gyebi II emphasized the need for ongoing commitment to preserving the image of chieftaincy, stating that their individual and collective conduct should enhance, rather than diminish, this reputation.
