Nana Owusu Appiah, Executive Director of Global Intelligent Security Analysis, has clarified that President Akufo-Addo has not claimed he would refuse to transfer power if the NPP loses the upcoming elections.
He emphasized that the President lacks the authority to make such a declaration, as the constitution mandates a peaceful transition of power.
During his appearance on the ‘Ghana Se Sen’ Lawson TV/Radio program, Mr. Owusu Appiah expressed disappointment over a misinterpretation by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, regarding the President’s commitment to a transition.
He assured listeners and viewers that Ghana’s security forces are fully prepared to oversee a fair electoral process.
“Anyone who positions themselves as an enemy of the state will be confronted by security forces,” he stated, adding that the military recognizes the importance of upholding democracy.
Mr. Owusu Appiah also cautioned against any attempts to disrupt the election, warning that such actions could lead to serious repercussions.
He confidently asserted that Ghana is set for a peaceful election on December 7.
