Nigerian crossdresser and social media sensation Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, was re-arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at Lagos’s Murtala Mohammed International Airport on the evening of October 31.

This unexpected arrest occurred just days after Bobrisky had been released on bail by Nigerian authorities.

Eyewitnesses reported a dramatic scene as authorities intervened right before the flight to London was set to depart, removing Bobrisky from the aircraft in front of stunned passengers.

Clearly distressed, Bobrisky took to Instagram to plead for help, stating, “Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured.”

Isaac Fayose, brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, confirmed the incident, sharing photos of himself with Bobrisky before their flight. Fayose, who has criticized the police’s treatment of Bobrisky, raised concerns about the timing of the arrest, posting on Instagram, “See who is on the same flight with me to London @bobrisky222.”

This latest arrest follows a series of legal troubles for Bobrisky, including a recent detention by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) while allegedly trying to leave the country. The ongoing investigations into claims that he paid EFCC officials ₦15 million to dismiss money laundering charges against him have intensified public scrutiny.

Controversy escalated when an audio recording surfaced, suggesting Bobrisky may have been allowed to serve his six-month jail term outside of Kirikiri prison due to “influential connections.”

Bobrisky has dismissed the recording as “fake” and has vowed to take legal action against the social media critic who leaked it. An investigative panel has also stated that no evidence supports claims that he served any jail time outside the prison facility.
