High Court Has Not Dismissed Our Application to Injunct the EC from Printing Ballot Papers – Amenfi Central NDC
The NDC Sought Court Injunction to Halt EC from Printing Amenfi Central Ballots
- The High Court has not dismissed the NDC's application to prevent the Electoral Commission from printing ballot papers
- A hearing for the injunction is scheduled for November 7, 2024, at the Sekondi High Court
- The NDC's action follows the EC's refusal to recognize Joana Gyan Cudjoe as the duly elected parliamentary candidate
The Amenfi Central branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has refuted claims that their application to prevent the Electoral Commission (EC) from printing ballot papers has been dismissed.
The High Court in Accra clarified on October 31, 2024, that the NDC’s injunction request, filed on October 17, 2024, is still active, with a hearing scheduled for November 7, 2024, in Sekondi.
This legal action follows the EC’s refusal to acknowledge Joana Gyan Cudjoe as the legitimate NDC parliamentary candidate for the Amenfi Central Constituency, as previously ordered by the Sekondi High Court on May 31, 2024.
Obed Anowi, the NDC’s Public Relations Officer for Amenfi Central, Speaking with Kwame Tanko on Lawson TV/Radio ‘Ghana Se Sen’ Morning Show emphasized that their challenge aims to overturn the EC’s disqualification of Joana Cudjoe from the upcoming parliamentary elections.
He remains hopeful that Joana Cudjoe will be affirmed as the rightful candidate and that John Mahama will secure victory in the presidential race in their region.
“I am very optimistic that Joana Cudjoe will be declared the winner of the 2024 Amenfi Central Constituency and that John Mahama will win the presidential election in Amenfi Central.”
