The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has announced that its ongoing strike will end on October 29, 2024.
The decision comes after several weeks of protests against the government’s perceived inaction on illegal mining, known as galamsey.
UTAG began its strike on October 10, 2024, to highlight the devastating impact of galamsey on Ghana’s water resources and forests. The strike has disrupted academic activities in public universities nationwide.
Following the NEC’s directive, lecturers are expected to return to their classrooms on October 29, 2024. Students can anticipate resuming their classes on November 1, 2024.
