A stunning second-half performance propelled Tottenham to a decisive victory over local rivals West Ham in the Premier League.
The match began with Hammers winger Mohammed Kudus scoring the opener in the 18th minute, converting a cross from Jarrod Bowen after having missed a similar opportunity moments earlier.
However, Tottenham quickly leveled the score when midfielder Dejan Kulusevski found the net in the 36th minute, his shot squeezing in after striking both posts.
Spurs, who had already dominated the first half, intensified their efforts after the break, particularly following the substitution of James Maddison for Pape Matar Sarr. Just seven minutes into the second half, Yves Bissouma capitalized on a cutback from Destiny Udogie to put Spurs ahead.
Son Heung-min, instrumental in creating goals, had a shot saved by West Ham’s Alphonse Areola, but the rebound deflected off Jean-Clair Todibo and into the net.
Son then scored again five minutes later, slotting home after West Ham failed to clear a loose ball. However, he later hit the post with another attempt as West Ham quickly lost possession right after the restart.
In a surprising turn of events, Kudus was sent off for pushing both Sarr and Micky van de Ven in the face, following a VAR intervention by Christopher Kavanagh.
The victory reflected Spurs’ impressive attacking display, helping to erase the disappointment of their previous match, where they squandered a 2-0 lead against Brighton and lost 3-2. Ange Postecoglou had labeled that defeat as his “worst” since taking charge of the club last summer.
