Nsemba and Marshall Selected for England Squad Ahead of Samoa Tests
- Nsemba and Marshall selected for England's final 24-man squad
- Marshall, 28, led the Super League in tries this season.
- Jake Wardle has withdrawn from the squad due to injury
Uncapped Wigan players Junior Nsemba and Liam Marshall have been selected for England’s final 24-man squad for the two-match Test series against Samoa.
Their inclusion comes after they helped Wigan secure a historic quadruple by winning the Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford last Saturday.
Nsemba, a second-row forward, was chosen just a week after being named the Super League Young Player of the Year. At 20 years old, he is the nephew of former Liverpool and Cameroon footballer Rigobert Song.
Winger Marshall, 28, led the Super League in tries this season.
Both players were part of the initial 31-man training squad announced by England head coach Shaun Wane in September.
Jake Wardle has withdrawn from the squad due to injury, while six other players have been dropped from the training squad: Nsemba’s Wigan teammate Tyler Dupree, Warrington’s James Harrison, Catalans Dragons’ Tom Johnstone, Hull KR’s Jez Litten and Elliot Minchella, and Leigh’s Robbie Mulhern.
England will face Samoa at Wigan’s Brick Community Stadium on Sunday, October 27, and at AMT Headingley in Leeds on Saturday, November 2, with both matches kicking off at 14:30 GMT. The BBC will broadcast both games live in the UK.
