Akufo-Addo Challenges Mahama to Face Bawumia in Public Debate

A Call for Open Dialogue Ahead of the Upcoming Elections

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged former President John Dramani Mahama to participate in a public debate with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Speaking during his tour of the Northern Region, he praised Bawumia’s clarity and reliability, asserting that Ghanaians deserve to hear both candidates articulate their policies and visions.

Akufo-Addo emphasized that a debate would allow voters to make informed choices ahead of the elections.

He questioned why Mahama seems reluctant to engage with Bawumia, who has expressed his readiness to debate anytime.

The President suggested that Mahama’s hesitation might stem from an inability to counter Bawumia’s arguments and accomplishments.

He pressed Mahama to clarify his stance on critical issues, like the Free SHS policy, insisting that voters deserve clear answers.

Akufo-Addo concluded that Mahama’s refusal to debate undermines the electorate’s right to a transparent discussion on pressing issues, reinforcing the importance of open debates for the health of democracy in Ghana.
