The Ashanti Regional branch of the Electoral Commission has announced that preparations for the December elections are nearly complete.
Mr. Francis Osei Nsiah, the Ashanti Regional Director, stated that only the printing of ballot papers and training for election staff remain.
In an interview with Kwame Tanko on Lawson TV/Radio’s morning show “Ghana Se Sen,” Mr. Osei Nsiah confirmed that all voter transfer concerns have been addressed.
He emphasized that the EC is not targeting any political party and clarified that the online voter re-exhibition system is here to stay until the Commission decides otherwise.
He mentioned that ballot printing will start soon, following discussions with political parties during the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting.
He assured that security on the printing day will be tighter than that of the Bank of Ghana during currency production.
He said, after printing, the ballots will be handed over to the police armory revealing the EC does not retain them.
Mr. Osei Nsiah stressed that the EC’s processes are designed to remain impartial and cannot manipulate the election outcome for any party.
