Detailed Overview of Revised Provisional Voters Register Statistics

The Electoral Commission (EC) has released updated statistics on the Voters Register, offering a detailed overview of the electorate in anticipation of the upcoming elections.

As per the EC’s report, the total number of valid voters is 18,772,251, with 9,689,987 females and 9,082,264 males. The register includes 708,280 first-time voters.

Among the special voters, which comprise security personnel and election officials, there are 131,476 individuals. The commission has recorded 332,107 transfers, with 311,344 voters listed as transferred. Additionally, there are 2,142 names on the proxy voters list.

The register also reveals some irregularities, including 33,536 names on the exception list and 26,790 on the multiples list. There are 1,273 individuals on the missing voters list, pending verification of their details.

During the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting in Accra on October 15, 2024, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa emphasized that the revised Provisional Voters Register (PVR) reflects significant improvements from the previous version presented during the exhibition exercise, as most discrepancies have been addressed.

Mensa assured attendees that the commission has worked diligently over the past weeks to ensure the accuracy of the information in the register.
