One Killed in Bawku Reprisal Attack After Student Shooting

Fresh violence erupts as a resident is shot dead while herding cattle, following the attack on two college students in Gambaga.

A deadly reprisal attack in Bawku has claimed the life of a resident of Sagabo, who was shot while herding cattle near the Sagabo-Zoogin area.

This follows the shooting of two Level 400 students from Gambaga College of Education in Gambaga on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.

The attack is believed to be linked to the ongoing Bawku conflict, which first erupted in November 2021 due to chieftaincy disputes.

The violence resurged in October 2024, resulting in the deaths of at least 73 people, including women and children.
