The Member of Parliament for Suame Constituency, Lawyer John Darko, has stated that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) sincerely wishes President John Mahama success in his administration, emphasizing that national progress should come before partisan interests.

Speaking to Kwame Tanko on Lawson TV/Radio Ghana Se Sen, Lawyer Darko stressed that while the NPP remains committed to constructive criticism and holding the government accountable, it also acknowledges that a well-performing government benefits all Ghanaians.

He revealed that the NPP Minority in Parliament played a key role in facilitating the swift formation of Mahama’s government, a gesture that underscores their commitment to national stability.

“If President Mahama succeeds in his four-year term, we will outclass him when we return to power,” he remarked, expressing confidence in the NPP’s ability to surpass Mahama’s governance should they regain office.

However, the MP raised concerns about persistent power outages (dumsor) in Kumasi, particularly in his constituency, compared to Accra, urging President Mahama to address the issue urgently.

He also criticized the government’s 10% salary increment for workers, arguing that it is insufficient, especially when compared to the 30% increment under former President Akufo-Addo.

“Ghanaians complained about the 30% increase, but the gap between 10% and 30% is huge,” he lamented.
