65-Year-Old to Undertake Three-Day Walk from Kumasi to Accra for Mahama’s Swearing-In
Alhaji Ayaana embarks on a symbolic 250-kilometer journey to honor the President-elect's historic victory and inspire unity
- Three-day walk begins January 5, covering over 250 kilometers
- Tribute to John Mahama’s 2024 electoral victory and inauguration
- Previously honored President Rawlings with a similar walk in 1997
A 65-year-old businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Ayaana, has announced plans to walk over 250 kilometers from Kumasi to Accra in celebration of John Dramani Mahama’s swearing-in as Ghana’s President on January 7, 2025.
Starting on January 5, the Tamale-based philanthropist aims to complete the three-day trek as a symbolic tribute to the President-elect’s victory in the 2024 elections.
Alhaji Ayaana, who is no stranger to such journeys, previously walked to commemorate former President Jerry John Rawlings’ second-term inauguration in 1997 and organized a peace walk in 1999.
His latest initiative follows a 19-kilometer health walk in Tamale to celebrate Ghana’s peaceful elections and thank Ghanaians for their support of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Alhaji Ayaana hopes the incoming government will deliver on campaign promises, including reducing Hajj costs and decentralizing visa and biometric processes to ease challenges faced by pilgrims.
Praising the businessman’s resolve, traditional healer Baako Alhassan called the journey a testament to resilience, urging Ghanaians to embrace patriotism and physical fitness.
