Violet Moyo was attacked early Thursday while heading to her fields for the summer cropping season.
The lion ambushed her, knocking her to the ground with a powerful strike. Despite the overwhelming danger, Moyo fought back, evading its deadly claws until it sunk them into her cheek.
In a desperate move, she grabbed the lion by the throat and choked it, refusing to let go until the beast retreated.
Her valiant actions ultimately saved her life, though she sustained multiple injuries. Moyo’s screams alerted local children, who helped bring attention to her plight. She is now recovering at Mpilo Central Hospital in Bulawayo, following this incredible ordeal.
