Minister assures timely results after addressing scanner breakdowns and funding issues at WAEC

The Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has assured the public that the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results will be released by December 29, 2024.
This assurance followed his working visit to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) printing facility, prompted by delays caused by broken scanners. WAEC had earlier explained that a lack of funds to repair or replace these scanners had further hampered the results’ release.
To address the issue, the Ministry of Education provided GH¢25 million to support WAEC’s operations and enhance its printing processes.
Dr. Adutwum, accompanied by the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, expressed satisfaction with WAEC’s efforts and commitment to delivering the results on time. He praised their dedication, particularly as staff worked through the holiday season to ensure students could proceed with their university admissions.
