As Ghana prepares to swear in its new President, John Dramani Mahama, on January 7, 2025, Zoomlion Ghana Limited is hard at work ensuring that Accra’s ceremonial areas are spotless and beautifully decorated.

This effort is part of the waste management company’s corporate social responsibility initiatives.

To achieve this, Zoomlion has deployed over 500 personnel and state-of-the-art waste management facilities to undertake the massive cleaning and beautification task. Their activities include cleaning the iconic Black Star Square and ceremonial streets, painting pavements and pedestrian walkways, and decorating traffic lights and trees with national colours.

Additionally, they are weeding road medians, sweeping streets, and clearing drains to ensure a pristine environment for the inauguration ceremony.

The Zoomlion personnel have already begun working in earnest, anticipating a clean, healthy, and beautiful environment for President Mahama’s second swearing-in ceremony. Some trees in the medians of ceremonial streets have been draped in national colours, adding a touch of patriotism to the inauguration preparations and enhancing Accra’s festive atmosphere.

Zoomlion’s commitment to sustainability and environmental care is evident in this initiative. As a leading waste management company in Ghana, they have consistently demonstrated their dedication to promoting a cleaner and healthier environment. Their efforts have not gone unnoticed, making them a shining example of corporate social responsibility in Ghana.

John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), secured a decisive victory in the 2024 presidential election with 56.55% of the votes. His main contender, Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), conceded defeat even before the official declaration of results by the Electoral Commission.

Mahama’s win marks his return to the presidency, a position he previously held from 2012 to 2016. In his victory speech, he emphasised the need for good governance, promising “severe measures and governance reforms” to “reset our nation.”

The NDC also gained a majority in the parliamentary elections, winning many seats across the country. This outcome is seen as a significant shift in Ghana’s political landscape, with the NDC poised to play a dominant role in the coming Parliament.

With President-elect John Dramani Mahama’s inauguration just around the corner, Zoomlion’s efforts will contribute to a memorable and dignified ceremony, showcasing their hard work and commitment to excellence.
