In an unusual twist to a New Year’s celebration, a 20-year-old man, Kipo Seidu, has been arrested in Bole, Savannah Region, after allegedly robbing a woman of her iPhone to present it as a gift to his girlfriend.

The victim, who wished to remain anonymous, recounted the ordeal taking place near the Bole Community Centre around 9 PM. Seidu reportedly approached her with a knife, demanding her phone, which she handed over in fear for her safety.

Afterward, she identified Seidu, leading to his arrest. During questioning, the suspect admitted to the crime, revealing that he had already gifted the stolen iPhone to his girlfriend. However, despite efforts by authorities, Seidu refuses to disclose the girlfriend’s identity or whereabouts, making it challenging to recover the phone.

The police confirmed that Seidu will soon be arraigned in court as investigations into the matter continue.
