The Member of Parliament for Odotobri, Hon. Lawyer Anthony Mmieh, has expressed deep disappointment over the treatment of the Ashanti Region under the eight-year administration of former President Nana Akufo-Addo.

He stated that the region did not receive the attention it deserved.

Speaking on Lawson TV’s Ghana Se Sen Show, Hon. Mmieh lamented that despite being the stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ashanti Region was neglected, making the party’s 2024 electoral defeat unsurprising.

“Ashanti Region gives the NPP the most votes and the most parliamentary seats, yet it was sidelined. We must reward loyalty! Our stronghold should not be taken for granted,” he stressed.

He advised the NPP to be a listening party if they hope to return to power in 2028, emphasizing that internal unity will be crucial for their comeback.

Hon. Mmieh also urged President John Mahama to learn from the NPP’s mistakes if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) wants to retain power beyond 2028.

He further called on Minority MPs from the Ashanti Region to step up their efforts, saying, “This is the time to fight for Ghana. This is the time to fight for Ashanti Region.”

While confident that the NPP will reclaim power in 2028, he maintained that the party must first prioritize unity and fairness to avoid a repeat of its 2024 downfall.
