Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed his disappointment at finishing another season without silverware, saying he is “unsatisfied and upset” with the outcome.

Speaking at Emirates Stadium following a 1-0 victory over Newcastle in their final home game of the season, Arteta delivered a heartfelt message to supporters. While the win confirmed Arsenal’s qualification for next season’s Champions League, it has now been five years since the club last claimed a major trophy—the FA Cup in 2020.

This season, Arsenal were outpaced by Liverpool in the Premier League title race, exited the Champions League and Carabao Cup at the semi-final stage, and were knocked out of the FA Cup in the third round.

“I’m not satisfied. I’m upset. Liverpool have a trophy—we don’t,” said Arteta, who has managed the team since December 2019. “But I believe we’re heading in the right direction.”

He continued, “What I can promise is that I’ll give my life to win a trophy for this club. I’ll do everything I can to get the best out of every single person involved.”

When asked whether he still felt supported by the fans, Arteta replied: “That’s what I sense, but they want more—they expect more. We need to believe we can achieve it together.”

Shortly after the final whistle, Arteta took to the pitch to thank fans for their support. Some had already left, but he delivered an emotional message to those who remained.

“We had a dream—to be here or somewhere else next week lifting a big trophy. We couldn’t make it happen, for many reasons,” he admitted. “But we must not lose sight of the dream. We need to keep chasing it with energy and belief.”

He added, “We’ve started to build something this season. Now we need to keep going. It won’t be easy, but these players have the talent to achieve more.”

Looking ahead, Arsenal will wrap up their Premier League campaign against relegated Southampton. A draw or win would see them finish second for the third consecutive season.
