Asantehene Engages Key Stakeholders to End Conflict, Calls for Dialogue and Disarmament

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has reaffirmed his dedication to resolving the long-standing Bawku conflict, revealing that discussions with key stakeholders are actively ongoing to secure lasting peace.
Speaking at the Manhyia Palace during a visit by Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene and other Members of Parliament on March 17, 2025, Otumfuo acknowledged a decline in gun violence but stressed that efforts to achieve a permanent resolution continue.
He disclosed that he has engaged with the Bawku Naaba, the Nayiri, and representatives of the Mossi and Hausa communities. While the Nayiri is currently unwell, Otumfuo expects a representative from his palace to join discussions soon.
The Asantehene made a heartfelt appeal for all factions to disarm and embrace dialogue, emphasizing the importance of addressing the deep-seated historical issues fueling the conflict.
