In a shocking turn of events, Ibrahim Tia, the North East Regional Minister, narrowly escaped death after an angry mob ambushed his vehicle while he attempted to mediate violent clashes in Walewale.
Tragically, his brother lost his life in the violent attack.
The incident occurred at the Walewale Chief’s palace, where Minister Tia had gone to address local authorities about escalating unrest that has already claimed the lives of at least seven people. The mob ambushed Tia, vandalized his vehicle, and held him hostage for over two hours, despite the intervention of police officers who eventually rescued him.
Sadly, it was too late for his brother, who died amidst the chaos. The Regional Security Council has since launched a manhunt to capture those responsible for this horrific attack.
