A fatal accident on the Walewale highway in the North East Region has left nine people dead and 15 others critically injured. The tragic incident occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, February 13, 2025.

The crash happened when a Sprinter vehicle traveling from Kumasi to Nalerigu collided with a stationary long truck near the Walewale township.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Walewale Government Hospital morgue, while the injured victims are receiving urgent medical care at the same facility.

Hospital sources confirmed that the victims were rushed in around 1:30 p.m. Eyewitnesses reported that the parked long truck, which was facing Bolgatanga, had been stationed on the shoulder of the highway when the speeding Sprinter vehicle collided with it.

Emergency responders and local authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
