John Boadu, the former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on Ghanaians to vote for the NPP in the upcoming elections to ensure the continuation of crucial developmental projects across the country, particularly those involving State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) under the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA).
Speaking at a public forum, Mr. Boadu highlighted the significant progress made by the NPP government in reforming SOEs, which he believes are critical to Ghana’s economic advancement. He attributed these successes to the creation of SIGA, which has enhanced governance, accountability, and operational performance in these entities.
Key Projects and Achievements: “The NPP government, through SIGA, has initiated landmark projects aimed at modernizing infrastructure, boosting productivity, and creating job opportunities for Ghanaians,” Mr. Boadu explained. He pointed to key developments such as the revitalization of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), the expansion of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), and the modernization of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL).
Additionally, he emphasized investments made in the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) to improve water supply systems, and reforms in the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) aimed at increasing efficiency and reducing losses.
“These projects are transforming our SOEs into more efficient, accountable, and profitable institutions, thanks to the reforms driven by SIGA under the NPP government. These accomplishments are not to be taken lightly,” he said.
Risks of Disruption: Mr. Boadu cautioned that a change in government could disrupt the progress made, with the risk of uncompleted projects being abandoned or mismanaged. “If there is a change of government, these vital projects, which are essential to Ghana’s development, could be left to waste. We cannot afford that,” he warned.
A Call for Support: He appealed to Ghanaians to vote overwhelmingly for the NPP in the upcoming elections to safeguard the ongoing initiatives and ensure their successful completion.
“The NPP has proven its ability, vision, and leadership to manage the nation’s affairs. Let’s vote for continuity to secure the future of our SOEs and, by extension, our country’s development,” Mr. Boadu concluded.
He reaffirmed the NPP’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and sustainable growth, assuring Ghanaians that the party would continue working relentlessly to transform Ghana’s SOEs into globally competitive entities.
