Suzzy Adwoa Pinamang, a Form Two student at Adventist Senior High School who sustained a severe eye injury from an accidental shooting earlier this year, is now recovering after undergoing successful surgery in the United Kingdom.
According to a Facebook statement by Rafik Mahama, special aide to businessman Ibrahim Mahama, Suzzy had her eye surgery on June 2, 2025, at the renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. The procedure was a success, and Suzzy is steadily regaining her independence and vision.
“I am pleased to announce that Suzzy Adwoa Pinamang successfully underwent her scheduled eye surgery… The operation was a success, and she is now able to see on her own,” Mahama shared.
Gratitude poured in from Mahama, who acknowledged the medical professionals in both Ghana and the UK, especially the team at Moorfields Eye Hospital. He also thanked numerous individuals and institutions, including Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Ghana High Commission in London, HE Harriet Thompson, Francis Asenso-Boakye, Roger Pope Opticians, the media, and the general public.
A special tribute was paid to Ibrahim Mahama, whose financial and logistical backing made Suzzy’s travel and treatment possible. Suzzy was flown to the UK on May 10, 2025, amid national concern for her condition.
Her successful surgery stands as a powerful testament to the impact of compassion, collaboration, and timely intervention.
