VIDEO: Electricity Tariffs to Increase Every Three Months – Oppong Nkrumah Warns

Former Minister warns of frequent tariff hikes and fuel price increases, blaming government policies for worsening economic hardships.

The Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi and former Minister for Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has revealed that the government plans to increase electricity tariffs every three months throughout 2025.

According to him, the economic policies of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration under President John Dramani Mahama do not aim to alleviate the financial burdens on Ghanaians as promised but instead worsen the hardships.

Speaking at a minority press conference yesterday, March 13, 2025, Mr. Oppong Nkrumah criticized the 2025 budget, stating that it lacks solutions for critical issues such as unemployment, rising living costs, and infrastructure development.

He further warned that the electricity tariff hikes will not only be frequent but could also see significant increases.

Additionally, he cautioned that fuel prices are expected to rise, which will, in turn, affect transportation costs, as the government has failed to outline measures to control price surges.
