The US Consul General in Ghana, Elliot Fertik, has addressed concerns about the complexity of the US visa application process, stating that it is actually simple and user-friendly.
Speaking during an interview on June 26, Fertik highlighted that the system is designed with clear, step-by-step instructions available on the US Embassy’s website.
He explained, “It’s not a complicated process. It’s straightforward — you just create an online account, pay the application fee, and book your appointment.”
Fertik also noted that while some applicants might opt to use travel agents for guidance, this service is entirely optional and not a requirement. “Some travel agents charge a small fee to assist, and as long as they follow the official procedures, that’s fine,” he said.
Most applicants, he emphasized, complete their visa applications independently and report that the process is easy to navigate without extra help or fees.
