Story Highlights
  • Transport fares will rise by 30% starting February 10, 2025
  • Drivers blame increased fuel, spare parts, and insurance costs for the hike
  • The increase aims to offset high maintenance and repair expenses

The Alliance Drivers of Ghana have announced a 30 percent increase in transport fares, effective February 10, 2025.

In a press release, the Alliance Drivers of Ghana stated that the increase is due to a “substantial rise in the costs of fuel, spare parts, and insurance.”

The drivers also expressed concerns about the high cost of maintenance and repairs.

“We wish to inform the general public that all our stations will increase lorry fares by 30%, starting on February 10, 2025. How can we go to work and return home empty-handed? We are not receiving pay from the government. We are self-employed and managing ourselves to take care of our families.”

We wish to inform the general public that all our stations will increase lorry fares by 30% starting on February 10, 2025.

How can we go to work and return home empty-handed? We are not receiving pay from the government. We are self-employed, managing ourselves to take care of our families.

But every time we go to work, we return home with empty hands. We call on all drivers to take note, and we ask passengers to kindly bear with us and understand our decision. Things are difficult for drivers and car owners.

God bless our homeland Ghana and make drivers great and strong.
