Tragedy at Mpasatia: Two Dead, Several Feared Trapped in Mining Pit Collapse

A mining pit collapse in Mpasatia, Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region, has claimed the lives of two individuals, while an unknown number remain trapped underground.

Despite ongoing rescue efforts since Tuesday morning, no additional victims have been retrieved. Salifu Karim, Assembly Member for Mpasatia Ahembronum Electoral Area, confirmed the tragic incident, stating that eyewitnesses reported about five people were in the pit at the time of the collapse.

The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the Afari Community Mortuary as efforts continue to rescue those still trapped.
