Teachers from the 2022 cohort of Colleges of Education graduates have temporarily halted their picketing after receiving assurances from the Ghana Education Service (GES) that their delayed salaries will be paid by the end of July.

On Monday, June 23, 2025, the teachers assembled at the GES headquarters to demand answers over prolonged salary arrears and the delay in issuing staff identification numbers.

Speaking in an interview on Tuesday, June 24, group spokesperson Eric Darfuor stated that the GES Public Relations Officer assured them that their concerns are being resolved and salary disbursements will begin by the end of July.

“The PRO confirmed that an official communiqué has been issued and the matter is at its final stage. Based on that, we’ve decided to suspend the picketing for now and await the salary payments,” Darfuor said.

He emphasized that while they are hopeful, they will continue to monitor the situation and are prepared to resume protests if the promised payments are not made on time.

“We’re waiting patiently until the end of July. If nothing happens, we’ll return even more determined,” he added.
