  • Court allows amendments to the applicant's case before setting the ruling date

The Supreme Court has announced that it will deliver its verdict on the constitutional challenge against the Anti-LGBTQI+ Bill on December 18, 2024.

The case, which has been ongoing since May 2024, has sparked criticism from supporters of the bill, who claim that the Chief Justice has caused delays in reaching a resolution.

However, the Judicial Service explained that the delay stemmed from the parties failing to submit key documents to move the case forward.

Earlier, the Speaker of Parliament and the Attorney General were granted permission to file their responses.

During a recent hearing, the court allowed the applicant to amend parts of his case, giving the defendants an opportunity to reply.

The matter was then adjourned, with the court setting December 18 for its ruling.
