Hon. Michael Aidoo, the Member of Parliament for Oforikrom Constituency, has strongly criticized Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh for his comments regarding the status of the Agenda 111 hospital projects.
Hon. Aidoo accused Akandoh of misleading the public by stating that some of the hospitals inaugurated by the previous government were still under construction and not yet operational.
During an inspection tour of the projects in the Ashanti Region, Akandoh noted that while construction was ongoing, none of the hospitals were fully functional despite their inauguration by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo before leaving office.
However, speaking on the Lawson TV/Radio Ghana Se Sen Morning Show on Friday, March 7, 2025, Hon. Aidoo dismissed Akandoh’s claims, particularly regarding the Oforikrom Agenda 111 hospital.
“He said ‘operationalized,’ not ‘completed.’ Operationalized and completed are two different words—they are semantic,” Aidoo argued.
The Krofrom MP further stated that he has personally visited the project site, where beds and chairs have already been fixed, and key facilities such as the Outpatient Department (OPD) and Theatre are ready. According to him, the only thing left is for the government to recruit staff to begin operations.
Hon. Aidoo urged the Health Minister to focus on his responsibilities rather than engaging in political rhetoric.
“Stop the politicking, you’re not on a campaign platform anymore. I know how Akandoh does his politics,” he asserted.
He also revealed that the Minority Caucus in Parliament is awaiting the 2025 budget presentation on March 11. After the budget is read, he said they will respond appropriately if necessary.
