Old Tafo MP Vincent Assafuah to Sue Government Over ‘Unfair’ Dismissals of Public Service Appointees
MP alleges political victimization as Chief of Staff's directive nullifies post-December 7, 2024, appointments

- Over 60 dismissed appointees have filed complaints, citing political bias
- Chief of Staff Julius Debrah’s directive claims appointments violated governance principles
- MP Vincent Assafuah prepares to challenge dismissals in court, calling for justice
Vincent Ekow Assafuah, the Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, has revealed plans to take the government to court over what he describes as unjust and autocratic dismissals of public service appointees made after December 7, 2024.
According to Mr. Assafuah, about 60 individuals have filed complaints, alleging political victimization following their dismissal under the directive of Chief of Staff Julius Debrah. The directive nullified appointments and recruitments made during the previous administration, citing a lack of adherence to good governance practices.
Speaking to journalists, Mr. Assafuah insisted that the dismissed appointees were lawfully recruited and called on all affected individuals to join his legal challenge. He aims to seek justice for what he views as politically motivated actions against the appointees.
The Chief of Staff’s directive mandates all heads of government institutions to reverse such appointments and submit reports on their compliance by February 17, 2025. However, Mr. Assafuah’s legal battle signals potential pushback against this government policy.
