Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kwabena Agyepong, has called on the party to stop the blame game and focus on learning from its defeat in the 2024 elections.

In a candid interview on April 29, Agyepong stressed the importance of moving forward and drawing valuable lessons from the loss to rebuild public trust.

Agyepong cautioned the party against dwelling on past mistakes and emphasized that it’s crucial to adopt a forward-thinking approach to regain the confidence of both party members and the general public.

He pointed out the growing frustration among NPP members regarding the party’s internal electoral process, which many perceive as being influenced by money and manipulation. A call for a more inclusive system has emerged, with some members advocating for broader participation, including a more accessible voting system for all card-carrying members.

“We can’t reverse the past, but we can learn from it,” Agyepong said, referencing the formation of the Oquaye Committee.

“Let’s learn from our defeat, not dwell on it. The future lies in reforming how we operate internally and restoring inclusivity.”

On the topic of blaming individuals for the party’s electoral loss, Agyepong rejected the idea.

“Pointing fingers at who is responsible won’t change the fact that we’re in opposition. It’s time to focus on regrouping, earning respect, and winning back our supporters,” he concluded.
