Kofi Iddie Adams, Ghana’s Minister-designate for Sports and Recreation, has pledged to prioritize school sports and ensure its development across the country. Reflecting on a 2016 law that established a school sports agency, Adams emphasized the need for a serious approach to school-level sports.
During his vetting on January 30, he committed to fostering stronger collaboration between the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to enhance sports programs.
Adams highlighted that the current biennial organization of school sports often leaves students without sports opportunities until their final years.
He also promised tax exemptions for companies importing sports equipment for schools and clubs, aiming to boost access to resources.
His commitment comes amid his long-awaited vetting, which was delayed due to other political events, but ultimately concluded with strong support for his vision for sports in schools.
