A 26-year-old military officer, Lance Corporal Owusu Asante, along with two civilians, has been brought before the Berekum Circuit Court over an alleged robbery incident.

The civilians—Wilson Osei Danquah, a boutique owner from Abuakwa, Kumasi, and Muftawu Salusu, a fuel station attendant—are accused of collaborating with the soldier in the operation.

Chief Inspector John Kwakye Brobbey, the prosecutor, stated that Lance Corporal Asante, who is based at Techiman Tanoso, is believed to have teamed up with the two men to carry out the crime.

On June 15, 2025, the trio reportedly stormed the home of Ajara Kramo, a woman suspected of involvement in drug-related activities, in Amangoase, a suburb of Berekum. Armed with a fake pistol, the suspects allegedly threatened her and made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

All three have been charged with conspiracy to commit a crime, robbery, and unlawful possession of illicit drugs. The court has remanded them into police custody pending further investigation.

The next hearing is scheduled for July 2, 2025.
