A tragic accident on the Tamale-Kumasi Highway has resulted in six fatalities, including two drivers.

The incident occurred early Wednesday morning when a Kia Granbird bus, transporting 28 passengers from Kumasi to Tamale, collided head-on with a Kia Rhino truck.

The truck was en route from Daboya to Goaso, carrying watermelons.

The collision occurred near Mile 40, causing severe damage to both vehicles. Tragically, three male adults, including both drivers, two women, and a child, died at the scene.

Several other individuals sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to the Central Gonja District Hospital in Buipe.

Emergency responders from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) were called in to assist in the rescue operation and clear the wreckage.

The victims’ bodies have been transferred to the hospital morgue for further examination. Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution and reduce speed to prevent such devastating accidents in the future.
