- Investigation underway into motive
A 27-year-old Senior High School (SHS) graduate, Kweku Twia, has been detained by the Twifo Atti Morkwa District Police for allegedly murdering a 75-year-old spiritual healer and injuring three others in Twifo Kwame Alerk, located in the Hemang-Lower-Denkyira District of the Central Region.
Eyewitness reports suggest the violent chain of events began with a heated argument between Twia and his father, which escalated when Twia attacked his father with a machete, inflicting severe injuries to his neck, hands, and stomach.
After the assault on his father, Twia went on a rampage, encountering Ante Amataa, a respected spiritual healer in the community. He allegedly struck her multiple times with the machete, resulting in her death.
Twia fled the scene but returned shortly afterward to continue his violent spree, injuring two more people before being apprehended by police. The shocking violence has left the community in fear, and an urgent announcement led to his swift capture.
Nana Kojo Damptey, the Linguist of Twifo Kwame Alerk, speculated that substance abuse may have influenced Twia’s actions, as his typically calm nature seemed to have been replaced by uncharacteristic aggression.
The body of the deceased has been transferred to the Twifo Praso Government Hospital morgue, and the injured victims are receiving treatment at the same facility. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the motive behind Twia’s actions and ensure justice is served.
