A shocking revelation by NDC legal team member, Lawyer Twum Barimah, has raised eyebrows over three helicopters the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government presented to the Ghana Police Service.
According to Barimah, two of the helicopters were manufactured in 1974 and are not only outdated but barely functional.
Speaking on the Ghana Se Sen Morning Show on Lawson TV/Radio, Lawyer Barimah described the helicopters as “archaic” and claimed that they can’t even fly at night.
He emphasized that one of the choppers, which is slightly newer, was made in 2005.
“Fifty-one-year-old helicopters that have been refurbished, and we had someone use the nation’s money to purchase them. The third helicopter, which is slightly more modern, was manufactured in 2005,” he said.
Background:
Former President Akufo-Addo procured three helicopters for the Ghana Police Service to aid in their efforts to combat crime in the country.
The Ghana Police Service, on Monday, March 6, 2023, put on an impressive display with the three newly acquired helicopters at the 66th Independence Day celebration in Ho, Volta Region.
In response to the growing lawlessness and acts of violence in several parts of the country, the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia-led government was convinced that these helicopters will aid the Ghana Police Service in their fight against crime.
