Securing the 24-Hour Economy: Interior Minister Calls for Round-the-Clock Police Unit

Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak emphasizes the need for enhanced police presence to safeguard businesses, industries, and workers operating under Ghana’s 24-hour economy initiative.

The Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, has emphasized the urgent need for a dedicated 24-hour policing unit to support the government’s ambitious 24-hour economy initiative.

Addressing the leadership of the Ghana Police Service, Mr. Muntaka Mubarak stressed that maintaining security and stability is vital for businesses, industries, and organizations operating round-the-clock. He highlighted that without adequate security, the initiative’s effectiveness could be undermined.

“The goal is to implement a robust and sustainable policing model that ensures security is maintained at all times, in both urban and rural areas. Economic activities must continue seamlessly, and so must our vigilance,” he stated.

The 24-hour economy policy aims to enhance economic productivity by encouraging businesses to operate beyond traditional hours. It is expected to drive employment, increase revenue, and improve service delivery across key sectors such as manufacturing, retail, transportation, healthcare, hospitality, and financial services.
