Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communication Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has strongly denied allegations that he was seen traveling in a large convoy with police escort in Accra over the weekend.
In a statement issued on Monday, January 13, 2025, Gyamfi described the claims made by former Presidential Staffer Justice Abeeku as “false and maliciously fabricated.”
Abeeku had posted on social media, alleging that he encountered Gyamfi while driving in Accra, noting the convoy and police dispatch riders accompanying him.
However, Gyamfi swiftly dismissed the accusation, stating, “I was nowhere near the said convoy, nor have I ever sanctioned or used any such convoy. As an ordinary citizen of Ghana, I do not conduct my affairs in such convoys.”
Gyamfi urged the public to disregard the claims, calling them an intentional attempt to damage his reputation and stir public discontent.
He reiterated his commitment to transparency and integrity, warning Ghanaians to be cautious of misinformation and to verify facts before accepting or spreading them.
Full Statement from Sammy Gyamfi:
My attention has been drawn to a social media post by one Justice Abeeku, a former Presidential Staffer under the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia NPP government, in which he claimed to have encountered me in a large convoy of several cars and police dispatch riders while driving in Accra over the weekend.
I wish to make it clear that this claim is completely false and maliciously contrived to generate public disaffection towards me. I was nowhere near the said convoy, nor have I ever authorized or used such a convoy. As an ordinary citizen of Ghana, I do not go about my business in such a manner.
I urge the public to dismiss this fabrication with the utmost contempt.
Signed,
Sammy Gyamfi Esq.
