The Krontihene of Akyem Asoum, Nana Boadi Amponim Abodade III, has claimed that Samira Bawumia, wife of the NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is deeply disheartened following her husband’s loss to John Mahama in the recent presidential election.

In a candid interview, Nana Boadi suggested that Samira was fully invested in her husband’s presidential bid, envisioning herself as a fashionable and charismatic First Lady who would leave a lasting impression on the public.

“Dr. Bawumia is unhappy; he did his best and was eager to secure the position,” Nana Boadi remarked. “But someone else is even more unhappy—Samira. She was very desperate for that role.”

He highlighted Samira’s prominent presence during the NPP campaign, where she often took the spotlight with her captivating sense of style and charm.

“You know, our good old Auntie Rebecca [Akufo-Addo] was not as outgoing. So, Samira became the face of the campaign. She yearned to be the First Lady,” he explained.

According to the Krontihene, Samira’s vibrant personality and fashion-forward image could have redefined the role of First Lady. “If the NPP had won, she would have slayed so much that Ghanaian ladies would have envied her style,” he joked.

Nana Boadi concluded that her visible disappointment mirrors the broader sentiment within the Bawumia household after the electoral defeat. “She is very unhappy,” he said.
