The Quarm-LMI Consortium, appointed by the government to finish the delayed Saglemi Housing Project, has committed to completing over 1,500 housing units within 400 days for public sale.
Kofi Adabor Ofori-Amanfo, Managing Director of the consortium, emphasized that structural integrity tests will be conducted on existing buildings to ensure stability. In a recent media interview following a visit to the Ningo Traditional Council, Ofori-Amanfo outlined plans to carry out re-engineering work on certain parts of the structures to meet high safety and quality standards.
The Saglemi Housing Project, originally aimed at addressing Ghana’s housing crisis, has faced numerous delays and controversies. Despite challenges such as weather damage and flooding, the consortium is determined to finalize the project and ensure the homes are safe for the public. “We’re targeting 400 days to complete everything and make the units available for sale. Some buildings will undergo tests to ensure we’re not delivering unsafe structures to society,” said Ofori-Amanfo.
