The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced the formation of a new Management Committee for the senior national football team, the Black Stars.

Dr. Randy Abbey, a member of the GFA Executive Council, will chair the newly formed committee, which is responsible for overseeing the administrative and logistical operations of the Black Stars. In addition to his leadership role, Dr. Abbey will spearhead engagement with government officials and other key stakeholders.

Former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah has been appointed as Vice-Chairman of the committee, where he will support Dr. Abbey and focus on player relations.

Other members of the committee include Samuel Aboabire, Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Football Association and GFA Executive Council member, and Moses Armah, President of Medeama Sporting Club.

Aboabire and Armah will handle operations and matchday activities while ensuring that the interests of sponsors, partners, and collaborators are well-managed. Richard Nsenkyire, President of FC Samartex 1996, the current Ghana Premier League champions, will take on special duties.

The primary responsibilities of the Management Committee include setting the strategic direction for the team, ensuring effective management, and acting as a liaison between the technical team and the GFA. The committee will also ensure that adequate camping arrangements are made, logistical support is provided, and regular visits to the team are conducted.

In consultation with the Head Coach and technical staff, the committee will oversee the preparation of activity schedules for all matches and tournaments.

Additionally, the committee will oversee the release of funds for team operations from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, ensure optimal travel arrangements, and ensure that team members uphold the dignity of the nation as ambassadors of Ghana.

The committee will also establish and enforce appropriate policies for managing and supporting the playing body and team officials. They will maintain a strong, positive relationship between the committee, the technical team, and the players.

Furthermore, the committee will collaborate with the GFA’s Marketing and Communications departments to ensure the smooth delivery of commitments to sponsors and partners, as well as effective communication about the team.

The GFA is confident that this new Management Committee, composed of experienced and dedicated individuals, will play a key role in supporting the Black Stars’ continued success.

“We are excited to introduce this new committee, which brings together passionate and skilled individuals who are committed to the success of Ghana football,” said GFA President, Kurt E.S. Okraku. “We trust they will work diligently to support the Black Stars in achieving their goals.”
